Tag name (email marketing)

The Tag name feature is intended for admins who have connected an email marketing tool to the audienced platform (e.g. MailerLite, Mailchimp, or SqualoMail).
It allows you to assign an email tag to each course or digital product, so users are automatically segmented in your email marketing platform.

This functionality does not affect the user experience and users do not see it anywhere.

Before you can use tags, you must have a connected email platform set up in the application settings.

Step 1: Connect an email tool

Before using tags, you need an active account with one of the supported providers and connect it to audienced.

Supported email tools

  • MailerLite
  • Mailchimp
  • SqualoMail

How to connect an email platform

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations.
  2. In the Email marketing section, enter the API key of the selected platform.
  3. Save the settings.

Once the email tool is successfully connected, audienced can automatically add users and tags.

Step 2: Tag name on a course

After connecting your email platform, you can assign a tag name to each course or digital product.

How to set the tag name

  1. Open the course and go to Basic information.
  2. Find the Tag name field.
  3. If your email tool is connected:
    • the tag is automatically suggested (based on the course name),
    • you can freely edit the tag.
  4. Click Connect and save.

You can add a tag:

  • when creating a course,
  • or at any later time while editing.

How it works behind the scenes

Once a tag is connected:

  • every user who gets access to the course
  • is automatically added to your email platform
  • with the tag defined for that course.

There is no need for:

  • manual contact exports,
  • manual tagging of users,
  • additional integrations.

Example use case

  • You create a course called Meal Prep Basics.
  • audienced automatically suggests the tag: meal-prep-basics.
  • You optionally change the tag to meal-prep.
  • A user signs up for or purchases the course.
  • In your email tool, a contact appears with the meal-prep tag.

This allows you to:

  • send targeted emails to this group only,
  • set up automations,
  • build upsell or follow-up campaigns.

What the user sees (and doesn’t see)

The user:

  • does not see tags,
  • does not see the email platform connection,
  • does not notice any change in the app.

This is a fully internal feature used for organization and marketing.

When it makes sense to use tags

We recommend using tag names:

  • for every course or challenge,
  • if you use email marketing,
  • for segmentation by programs,
  • for retargeting and automations,
  • when you have multiple digital products.
